Crown Prince Receives Canadian Prime Minister, Holds Official Talks, Witnesses Exchange of Bilateral Memoranda of Understanding
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney in Jeddah. They held official talks and witnessed the exchange of several bilateral MOUs covering energy, a coordination council, and AI investment.
His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, received Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney at the Royal Palace in Jeddah this evening. An official reception was held, followed by a formal session of talks. At the outset, the Crown Prince welcomed the Canadian Prime Minister to the Kingdom, while Mr. Carney expressed his pleasure at the visit and meeting. During the session, they reviewed bilateral relations, areas of cooperation, and opportunities for development across various sectors, as well as regional and international developments and related efforts. The Crown Prince and the Canadian Prime Minister also witnessed the exchange of several bilateral memoranda of understanding: First, a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Energy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Natural Resources of Canada in the field of energy, exchanged by Saudi Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz and Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Anita Anand. Second, a memorandum of understanding between the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Government of Canada on the establishment of the Saudi-Canadian Coordination Council, which will serve as a platform for implementing the joint work document between the two countries, representing a roadmap for the next phase of Saudi-Canadian relations, exchanged by Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah and Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Anita Anand. Third, a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Communications of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Industry of Canada on investment in artificial intelligence and skills development, exchanged by Saudi Chairman of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Al-Ghamdi and Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Anita Anand. Attending the talks were Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Energy; Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Makkah Region; Prince Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Minister of the National Guard; Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Defense; Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Minister of State and National Security Advisor Dr. Musaad bin Mohammed Al-Aiban; Minister of Finance Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan (accompanying minister); and Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Canada Amal bint Yahya Al-Moallimi.
