Deputy Foreign Minister Represents Kingdom at Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation Conference in Manila

His Excellency Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Eng. Walid bin Abdulkarim Al-Khuraiji, on behalf of His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated today in the Conference of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) entitled 'Conflict Prevention and Preventive Diplomacy', held in the Philippine capital, Manila.
In his speech, the Deputy Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of enhancing dialogue, consolidating mutual trust, and expanding the scope of regional cooperation, noting the Kingdom's recognition of the vital role played by ASEAN in promoting peace, stability, and prosperity. He also welcomed the progress achieved through recent ASEAN summits in supporting economic integration and addressing regional and international challenges.
Al-Khuraiji affirmed the Kingdom's firm commitment to strengthening its partnership with ASEAN, building on the achievements of ASEAN and Gulf Cooperation Council summits, while stressing the importance of opening new horizons for growth, enhancing resilience, and advancing common interests.
Kingdom’s Positions on Regional Challenges
The Deputy Foreign Minister renewed the Kingdom's call for dialogue, diplomacy, and de-escalation as the only way to achieve lasting peace and regional stability. He reaffirmed the Kingdom's condemnation of the illegal Iranian attacks on oil and gas tankers, vital infrastructure, and civilian areas in the Gulf, stressing the right of states to defend themselves in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter.
He also condemned the false allegations made by the Houthi militia accusing the Kingdom of imposing a siege on Yemen, affirming the Kingdom's rejection of the repeated attacks launched by the militia on civilians and vital infrastructure, and its firm support for the brotherly Yemeni people and their legitimate government.
Kingdom’s Vision and Strengthening International Cooperation
Al-Khuraiji explained that Saudi Vision 2030 is based on prioritizing cooperation over confrontation, making economic partnership a driver for lasting peace and shared prosperity. He noted that the Kingdom, as a party to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation, bears the responsibility of supporting the Treaty's principles by enhancing multilateral cooperation, supporting preventive diplomacy, protecting freedom of navigation, and encouraging dialogue as a preferred means of conflict resolution.
The conference was attended by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ Ambassador to the Republic of the Philippines, Faisal Al-Ghamdi.
