Eastern Region Environment Holds Training Meeting on Fishing Regulations and Ban Seasons
The Eastern Region branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture organized a workshop titled 'Fishing Regulations and Ban Seasons' as part of preparations for the launch of the 2026 shrimp fishing season, with participation from a number of staff members of the Control and Compliance Department at the branch, along with staff from the ministry's office in Jubail Governorate.
Engineer Fahd bin Ahmed Al-Hamzi, Director General of the ministry's branch in the Eastern Region, stated that this meeting is part of the early preparations for the launch of the 2026 shrimp fishing season, pointing to the ministry's keenness to qualify control teams and enhance their understanding of the regulations and requirements governing fishing practices, enabling them to effectively apply the regulations in the field.
Muhammad bin Salem Al-Salamah, Director of the Control and Compliance Department at the branch, explained that this meeting is part of the department's efforts to prepare and qualify field teams and raise their efficiency in effectively applying regulations, thereby enhancing fishermen's compliance and achieving the goals of preserving and sustaining marine resources during the shrimp fishing season. Engineer Abdullah bin Ahmed Al-Salah presented the workshop, which aimed to raise the readiness level of control teams and enhance awareness of the regulations and instructions governing fishing practices, contributing to compliance and adherence to relevant regulations, noting that it included a review of the most prominent regulations and requirements for the shrimp fishing season, ban seasons, and permitted methods.
