The branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in the Eastern Region organized a workshop to invite farmers to expedite the issuance of licenses for using groundwater wells, reviewing the extension of the application deadline and the issuance steps to ensure the sustainability of water security and protection of natural resources.

Engineer Fahd Al-Hamzi, Director General of the ministry's branch in the Eastern Region, explained that the workshop was held at the branch's extension unit, stating that it aims to familiarize participants with the regulations and conditions for issuing licenses for using groundwater sources for agricultural and other purposes.

Application Steps

Engineer Al-Hamzi added that the steps for applying for the license issuance service via the ministry’s 'Nama' website were reviewed, touching on Ministerial Resolution No. 15007853 issued on 11/1/1447 AH. He indicated that the resolution approves the extension of the deadline for obtaining licenses, which ends on 5/2/1448 AH. The Director General also revealed the activities excluded from the deadline, including local agricultural companies and large farmers licensed to grow wheat. He pointed out that the exclusion also includes activities carried out by the Saudi Water Authority and the Food and Drug Authority, represented by water stations for potable and non-potable water and water factories.

Al-Hamzi stressed to all farmers the importance of benefiting from the one-year extension of the deadline starting from 5/2/1448 AH, while emphasizing that the exclusion of the aforementioned activities from this extension continues. Engineer Mohammed Al-Fateel, Director of the Non-Profit Sector and Agricultural Solutions Department at the ministry's branch, called on farmers to apply for groundwater source licenses, noting that this step ensures the development and enhancement of the agricultural sector and achieves balance and sustainability for water security now and for future generations.
