Expansion of Municipal Services in Dammam during the First Half of 2026
The Eastern Province Municipality, represented by Dammam Municipality, continues to implement its field and operational works during the first half of 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to improve municipal services, enhance the urban landscape, and promote public health, contributing to raising the quality of life and achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
Director General of the General Administration of Media and official spokesman for the Eastern Province Municipality, Faisal bin Saeed Al-Zahrani, explained that the achieved indicators reflect the efficiency of the operational and supervisory plans implemented by the municipality, and its keenness to develop municipal services according to the highest quality standards, contributing to providing a safe urban environment, enhancing residents' satisfaction, and improving the urban landscape in Dammam.
He pointed out that during the first half of the year, the municipality in Dammam removed 115,840 tons of container waste, cleaned and treated 22,300 containers, handled 949 reports, removed 229 barriers from parking lots and sidewalks, removed 62 violating billboards, removed 46 graffiti distorting the public appearance, in addition to removing 16 damaged and abandoned cars, while asphalt milling and maintenance works covered more than 337,000 square meters; as part of its ongoing efforts to improve cleanliness levels and address visual distortion elements.
Al-Zahrani added that the municipality continued to implement road network maintenance and rehabilitation programs, achieving a completion rate of 98.6%, exceeding the target of 74.11%. The works included maintenance and rehabilitation of asphalt layers, maintenance of sidewalks and medians, installation of concrete protection columns, maintenance of traffic safety means, painting works, in addition to leveling and connecting asphalt layers, enhancing infrastructure efficiency and raising traffic safety levels.
In terms of environmental health and compliance, he stated that the municipality conducted 22,810 inspection visits, recorded 4,642 violations, handled 226 reports, destroyed more than 37,000 kilograms of unfit food products, confiscated about 1,957 kilograms of food products, and took 411 samples for laboratory testing, in addition to raising the compliance rate of 35 establishments; enhancing food safety and preserving public health. Al-Zahrani noted that Dammam Municipality continues to implement its operational and supervisory plans according to an integrated methodology, based on raising the efficiency of municipal services, improving the urban landscape, and promoting public health, contributing to providing a sustainable urban environment that meets the aspirations of residents and visitors and aligns with quality of life targets.
