From Riyadh to Beijing - Eman Hamoud Al-Shammari
If the world has admired what China has achieved in economy, industry, and technology, what truly deserves admiration is the philosophy behind these achievements!! There are countries known for what they possess, and others known for what they produce, but China in particular is known before all that for what it has been able to inspire to the world.. And when you visit China, or read about it, you realize that what was achieved there was not a fleeting miracle, but the fruit of a far-reaching vision, diligent work, and a deep belief that nations are built with knowledge before stone, with people before factories, and with planning before wishes.
China did not confine its success to its borders, but extended its hand to the world, believing that true development flourishes when nations share expertise. Thus, it built bridges of cooperation with various peoples of the world, because it believes that development is not a gain for one party and a loss for another, but an opportunity from which everyone can benefit. This approach found resonance in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which intersects with China in the same convictions and goals.
The relationship between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the People's Republic of China stands out as a model of a partnership based on mutual respect and a shared vision for the future. Saudi Vision 2030 meets the Chinese experience in many aspirations. While the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continues its ambitious journey under its vision, China continues at the same time to write a new chapter of its civilizational renaissance. The relationship between the two countries has become deeper than mere trade exchange; it is a dialogue between two developmental experiences that believe that the future is made with will and work.
In this context, the recent visit of His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, to the People's Republic of China came to confirm that the relations between Riyadh and Beijing are more than just a relationship between two economic partners; they are a relationship between two countries that look to the future with one eye, and believe that the path of development can only be achieved through security and stability. Therefore, one of the priorities of that visit was to enhance political consultation in a way that serves regional stability.
On the sidelines of the official visit, I was struck by the circulated photos of the Foreign Minister's visit to the Imperial Palace 'Forbidden City', which showed his Highness's interest in learning about this civilizational heritage. This palace was the seat of Chinese emperors for nearly five centuries; it is not just an architectural edifice but a living record that tells the story of a civilization that managed to preserve its roots while moving confidently towards the future. Such a visit reflects a deep symbolic dimension of the relationship between the two countries, extending to understanding the history of peoples, respecting their civilizational heritage, and approaching their cultural identity.
If the past decades witnessed China's rise as a global economic power, the coming years seem poised to witness a greater consolidation of Saudi-Chinese relations, benefiting the two friendly peoples and enhancing opportunities for peace, development, and prosperity in the region and the world.
