The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassim Mohamed Albudaiwi, strongly condemned the statements issued by the military spokesman of the terrorist Houthi militia, affirming that they contain false allegations and baseless accusations against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in a blatant attempt to distort facts and evade responsibility for the practices pursued by the militia.

Albudaiwi stressed that these irresponsible statements will not change the established facts, foremost among which are the sincere efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support the Yemeni people, contribute to achieving security and stability, advance the political solution, and provide humanitarian and relief assistance, stemming from its historic responsibility towards Yemen and its people.

The Secretary-General emphasized that the security of maritime navigation and the freedom of international trade are fundamental pillars of regional and international security and stability, noting that any attempts to target international waterways constitute a clear violation of international law, the provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and relevant Security Council resolutions.

Albudaiwi called on the international community to take a firm stance against the false Houthi claims and threats, and to work on implementing Security Council resolutions to ensure the protection of maritime navigation and prevent any practices that endanger the security of international maritime corridors.

The Secretary-General reaffirmed the GCC's full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures taken to protect its security, sovereignty, and interests.
