Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) announced an increase in the number of daily trips of the Haramain High-Speed Railway to more than 140 trips per day during the last ten days of the holy month of Ramadan for the year 1447 AH. This is part of its approved operational plan for the Ramadan season, aligning with the expected increase in the number of Umrah pilgrims and visitors during this period, which witnesses peak movement between Makkah and Madinah.

SAR explained that the season's plan includes operating 3,662 trips with a capacity exceeding 1.7 million seats, providing flexible and multiple transportation options throughout the day, and facilitating the movement of pilgrims and reducing waiting times during high-density days.

The Haramain High-Speed Railway is one of the most prominent transportation projects in the region, connecting Makkah and Madinah via Jeddah and King Abdullah Economic City, with an operational speed of up to 300 km/h, reducing travel time between the two cities to approximately two hours. The train features a high level of comfort, seats designed for medium-distance trips, modern operating systems that enhance reliability and punctuality, as well as integrated service facilities within stations that contribute to a smooth and safe travel experience.

SAR stated that the increase in trips is based on seasonal demand indicators, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and service quality, and enhancing the readiness of operational and field teams around the clock to ensure continuity of efficient performance during a season that witnesses high movement density.

These efforts are an extension of SAR's role in enabling a modern and reliable transportation system that serves pilgrims and facilitates their movement between the two holy cities with ease and reassurance, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Transport and Logistics Strategy aimed at enhancing connectivity efficiency and improving the quality of the transportation system in the Kingdom.
