Jazan Municipality: Circulating Images of Al-Ardah Overlook Project Do Not Reflect Final Design
Jazan Municipality clarified that widely shared images of the Al-Ardah overlook development project show an intermediate stage, not the final design. The project spans 288,000 square meters, with only 19% developed and 81% preserved as natural mountain views. It aims to enhance visitor experience while maintaining the site's environmental character.
The Jazan Municipality has revealed that the images circulating on social media regarding the Al-Ardah Overlook development project reflect a stage of the project before its completion, and do not represent its final form, as construction work is still ongoing.
In a statement, the municipality explained that the project is being built on a total area of 288,000 square meters, of which only 61,000 square meters—about 19% of the total site area—are allocated for development, while 227,000 square meters (81%) will remain as natural mountain overlooks to preserve the site's environmental character and natural terrain.
The project aims to develop the overlook to enhance visitor experience by providing facilities, services, walkways, seating areas, and comfort elements, while preserving the site's natural identity. The final phase of the project includes landscaping, green spaces, and finishing aesthetic elements, which are carried out after the completion of construction work.
The project is part of a package of mountain overlook development projects in the Jazan region, all of which are reviewed according to approved standards to balance the development of public facilities with the preservation of the sites' natural features, achieving goals of enhancing quality of life and improving the visitor experience.
The Al-Ardah Overlook, established in 1431 AH (2010), spans an area of 288,000 square meters at a total cost of 5 million riyals. It is one of the most prominent mountain tourist attractions in the region, benefiting from its elevated location that offers panoramic views of Al-Ardah Governorate and several affiliated centers and villages, making it a year-round destination for locals and visitors, especially during the rainy season.
