The inspection tours carried out by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture as part of its regulatory and awareness campaign to enhance compliance in livestock markets resulted in issuing 990 warnings, detecting 543 violations, and receiving 20 complaints and reports, as part of monitoring compliance with regulatory requirements and improving the quality of services provided in livestock markets. Systems and Requirements The ministry explained that the campaign aims to raise the level of compliance in markets, enhance biosecurity, and improve the operational environment, in addition to raising awareness of systems and regulations, which contributes to developing the work environment and improving the efficiency of services. The campaign witnessed the implementation of more than two thousand inspection tours, visits to over 7,000 facilities, in addition to carrying out 473 awareness and educational campaigns, with the participation of 414 enforcement officers, as part of the ministry's efforts to enhance field monitoring and apply approved systems and requirements. The ministry stressed that the campaign is a continuation of its efforts to raise the efficiency of monitoring livestock markets and establish a culture of compliance, supporting the sustainability of the livestock sector, preserving animal health, and improving the quality of services provided to beneficiaries. Animal Protection The campaigns conduct round-the-clock inspection tours, along with awareness and guidance programs targeting investors, livestock breeders, and market-goers; with the aim of introducing regulatory requirements, disseminating sound practices, and establishing a culture of compliance, contributing to reducing violations and improving the level of services provided to beneficiaries in the markets. The campaigns, supervised by a number of specialists and veterinarians, include introducing the Animal Welfare Law, which aims to protect animals from abuse and neglect, and regulate their handling in areas such as breeding, transport, trade, and display, in addition to conducting visual inspection of livestock; to monitor sellers' and investors' compliance with controls and requirements, thereby contributing to preserving human health and livestock.
