Testing Laboratories Lead Accreditation Fields with 67%
The Saudi Accreditation Center intensified its efforts in accrediting entities, registering 809 accredited entities last year. Laboratories dominated with 67%, compared to 18% for certification bodies and 15% for inspection bodies, while Riyadh region led with 43% of accredited entities. Accredited entities: The Saudi Accreditation Center's 2025 report revealed 809 accredited entities, including 539 laboratories (67%), 145 certification bodies (18%), and 125 inspection bodies (15%). The total number of accreditation fields was 19. The total number of assessors and experts was 559, including 371 Saudi assessors and experts, compared to 118 cooperating international assessors and experts. Beneficiary satisfaction reached 95%, with 39 training programs and a total of 1,100 trainees. Testing laboratory accreditation led the accreditations according to specifications with 449 testing laboratories, followed by inspection bodies with 113 accreditations, calibration laboratories with 66 accreditations, product/service/process certification bodies with 39 accreditations, quality management systems with 22 accreditations, and halal certification bodies with 21 accreditations. Riyadh and Eastern Province: Riyadh region had the largest share of accredited entities, with 346 accredited entities (43%), followed by the Eastern Province with 224 (28%), Makkah with 114 (14%), Madinah with 40 (5%), entities from outside the Kingdom with 27 (3%), Tabuk with 13 (2%), and Asir, Jazan, and Al-Qassim tied with 8 each (1%), Al-Jouf with 7 (0.86%), Hail, Najran, and Northern Borders tied with 0.49%, and Al-Baha with 2 (0.24%). Accredited laboratories: The number of accredited laboratories last year reached 539, with 76,680 documents studied. The total number of assessors and experts for laboratory accreditation was 159. The main benefits of laboratory accreditation include: demonstrating technical competence, accuracy of results, enhancing confidence in testing and calibration reports, ensuring compliance with international standards, reducing errors and improving performance, supporting local and international acceptance of results, and strengthening the national quality infrastructure.
