The Al-Ahsa Municipality conducted 73,000 inspection tours of health and commercial establishments during the first half of 2026, resulting in the destruction of 21 tons of food unfit for consumption to ensure consumer safety.

Official spokesman for Al-Ahsa Municipality, Khaled Bououshal, revealed that field teams targeted 29,134 establishments in the province's cities and towns, noting that these tours aim to verify compliance with municipal regulations and follow up on safety requirements.

Bououshal explained that the inspections resulted in the seizure and destruction of 21,396 kilograms and 2,002 liters of products violating requirements, stressing that approved regulatory procedures were taken to prevent their circulation or reaching consumers. He added that the municipality recorded various violations and worked to rectify the status of non-compliant establishments, indicating that field monitoring coincided with efforts to educate workers on municipal requirements to enhance preventive oversight and sustainable compliance.

He noted the implementation of 17 joint and intensive field campaigns targeting activities directly related to consumer health and safety, focusing on sites requiring continuous follow-up to improve operational performance and reduce malpractice. Bououshal mentioned that Al-Ahsa Municipality is leveraging technical solutions to monitor establishments and analyze regulatory indicators, contributing to enhanced response speed and accuracy in recording observations to protect public health and improve service quality.

Health requirements

The municipality called on establishment owners to adhere to health requirements and address observations promptly, warning of penalties against violators. It urged the public to report any municipal violations via the 'Baladi' application or through the unified complaint center at 940.
