The Saudi Mathematics Team returned to Riyadh after participating in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO 2026) in Shanghai, achieving the best result in the Kingdom's history by winning 6 international medals.

This raised the Kingdom's tally in the Olympiad to 88 international awards since 2004.

The Saudi team won three silver medals achieved by Youssef Bakheet, Abdul Salam Al-Sulami, and Abdul Ilah Al-Saqqaf, in addition to three bronze medals won by Elias Al-Faraj, Abdullah Al-Amer, and Faris Al-Kanhal, in a competition that included 660 male and female students representing 117 countries.

This achievement raised the Kingdom's tally in the Olympiad to 88 international awards since 2004, including 15 silver, 51 bronze, and 22 certificates of appreciation, reflecting the continuous development in the performance of Saudi students in international scientific forums.

These results came as a fruit of intensive training programs supervised by the Mawhiba Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Education within the International Olympiad Program, aimed at preparing students for global competitions and enhancing the competitiveness of national talents in line with the goals of Vision 2030.

The International Mathematical Olympiad is the oldest global competition for secondary school students, launched in 1959 with the participation of 7 countries, and has expanded today to include about 120 countries around the world.
