Royal Institute of Traditional Arts Launches Fourth Edition of 'Summer Wrth' Program
The fourth edition of the program targets over 7,000 children in Riyadh, Hail, and Abha, offering educational and creative experiences in Saudi traditional arts through interactive activities.
The fourth edition of the 'Summer Wrth' program, organized by the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts (Wrth), has been launched, targeting over 7,000 boys and girls in the cities of Riyadh, Hail, and Abha, within an educational and creative experience that introduces the younger generations to Saudi traditional arts and strengthens their connection to the national cultural identity through interactive activities combining learning, fun, and practice.
The program welcomes children aged 8 to 12 on a journey spanning nine days, during which participants move between educational and applied stations that allow them to explore traditional crafts, learn about their tools and techniques, and create artworks with their own hands, in an experience that develops their creative skills and instills appreciation for Saudi cultural heritage.
'Summer Wrth' offers an educational model based on learning by doing, where children engage in interactive experiences that turn traditional crafts into a space for discovery and creativity, and give them the opportunity to express their ideas through works inspired by heritage, thus strengthening their connection to their national identity in a way that combines knowledge and enjoyment.
The program includes a variety of traditional arts and crafts that reflect the richness of the cultural heritage of the Kingdom, including pottery, Sadu, Asiri Qatt, incense burner making, dallah making, stone building, Najdi doors, and metalworking, highlighting the diversity of traditional arts and the uniqueness of each region of the Kingdom.
The launch of the fourth edition of 'Summer Wrth' is an extension of the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts' efforts to enhance the presence of Saudi traditional arts in society and instill pride in cultural identity among children, through specialized programs that help discover their talents, develop their creative abilities, and inspire them to explore national heritage in contemporary ways.
The Royal Institute of Traditional Arts (Wrth) is a leading entity in highlighting national identity and enriching Saudi traditional arts locally and globally, by preserving their origins, appreciating living treasures and distinguished individuals in these fields, supporting practitioners and national talents, and encouraging those interested to learn, master, and develop them.
