Klopp Agrees to Lead Germany Until 2030
Jürgen Klopp is set to become head coach of Germany until 2030 after Julian Nagelsmann's resignation following the 2026 World Cup exit.
German Jürgen Klopp is on the verge of taking charge of his country's national team in the next phase, following coach Julian Nagelsmann's departure from his position after Germany's elimination from the 2026 World Cup.
Germany left the 2026 World Cup early, specifically from the round of 32, after losing to Paraguay on penalties.
Besides the current World Cup, the German team failed to advance past the group stage in the previous two tournaments in 2018 and 2022, noting that they won the title in 2014.
After Nagelsmann's resignation, the German Football Association began talks with Jürgen Klopp regarding the possibility of succeeding the 38-year-old coach.
According to Sky Germany, Klopp will sign a contract extending until 2030 as the coach of the German national team if things go according to plan.
Final negotiations between the German Football Association and the former Liverpool coach are scheduled to take place in New York over the weekend.
The network indicated that Klopp's departure from his role as Head of Global Soccer at Red Bull is considered a formality and will be finalized as soon as his agreement with the German Football Association is completed.
Klopp left his coaching role at Liverpool at the end of the 2023-2024 season and took up the position of Head of Global Soccer at Red Bull in January 2025.
