The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its strongest condemnation of the accusations made by the military spokesperson of the terrorist Houthi militia against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia regarding the blockade of the brotherly Yemeni people and the ban on maritime navigation.

The Ministry affirmed that the Kingdom has worked over the past years with the legitimate Yemeni government to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people, including continuing development projects, supporting the Yemeni government budget, and providing petroleum derivatives to operate power plants.

The Ministry pointed out that the ports of northern Yemen (Hodeidah, Salif, and Ras Isa) received during the first half of this year more than 200 ships carrying foodstuffs, goods, fuel, and construction materials, while continuing to operate under Security Council Resolution 2216, which prohibits the entry of weapons and ammunition that the Houthi militia attempts to smuggle into Yemen to prolong its control.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recalled the crimes of the Houthi militia against the Yemeni people, foremost among them the targeting of Aden Airport on December 30, 2020, which resulted in dozens of deaths and injuries, and the targeting of oil export ports in southern Yemen on October 21, 2022, during the truce period, and subsequent attacks that stopped the government's ability to sell oil, which represents about 60% of its revenues, directly affecting the disbursement of employee salaries.

The Ministry added that the militia confiscated four aircraft belonging to Yemen Airways and detained them at Sanaa Airport after transporting Yemeni pilgrims from Jeddah, in addition to dragging Yemen into the regional conflict and targeting commercial ships in the Red Sea, which increased the suffering of Yemenis and exacerbated their economic crisis, especially in the areas under its control.

The Ministry pointed out that the militia rejected all initiatives aimed at resuming flights from Sanaa Airport, including the Jordanian initiative, stressing that the Houthis are trying to export their economic crises and internal popular rejection by fabricating false accusations and directing them at the Kingdom.

Regarding the Kingdom's position on peace, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the Kingdom has supported UN efforts to achieve peace in Yemen over the past years, including the roadmap approved by the legitimate Yemeni government, while the Houthi militia refrained from announcing its acceptance.

The Kingdom called on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities in implementing relevant Security Council resolutions, foremost among them Resolution 2216 on Yemen and Resolution 2722 on freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, stressing that it will take all necessary measures to protect its ships in accordance with the provisions of international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 1982.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continues to support the brotherly Yemeni people and promote the peace process in Yemen.
