Saudi Embassy in Ankara Monitors Investigations into Death of Saudi Citizen
The Saudi Embassy in Ankara is following the progress of investigations into the drowning and death of a Saudi citizen, in coordination with the relevant Turkish authorities to complete the necessary legal procedures.
According to a Turkish media report, the incident details indicate that the Saudi citizen, Abdulaziz, aged 39, was on a tourist vacation in the Uzungöl area of Trabzon province in northern Turkey.
While trying to take a souvenir photo near a river, he approached the riverbank dangerously, then lost his balance and fell into the water. He first clung to tree branches, but the strong current prevented him from swimming or getting out.
It added that his brother Omar, aged 23, entered the river in an attempt to rescue him, but the strong current swept them both far away. Several Turkish citizens managed to rescue the younger brother, while search operations for the older brother continued.
Immediately, emergency and rescue teams launched search operations and found Abdulaziz, but he had died. His body was transferred to the morgue of the Forensic Medicine Institute to complete procedures and determine the final cause of death, while the younger brother's health condition was described as stable.
