The Ministry stated that its inspection teams carried out statutory verification procedures against one private sector establishment, as part of ongoing monitoring and follow-up to verify compliance with labor law provisions and the requirements of the Wage Protection Program.
Confirmation of violation of non-compliance with paying employee wages on time.
It explained that the verification procedures resulted in confirmation of a violation of non-compliance with paying employee wages within the statutory deadlines, and legal measures were taken against the establishment in accordance with applicable regulations and instructions.
"Akhbaar 24" had published a report last Monday on complaints from laboratory technicians at several universities about delays in paying their salaries for more than three months, after the contracted company operating laboratories at those universities stopped paying its employees.
In testimonies given by several employees of the company—both Saudi and non-Saudi—to "Akhbaar 24", they confirmed that they had gone more than three months without receiving their salaries, and were experiencing a severe financial crisis that forced some of them to sell personal belongings to pay rent and meet their families' financial obligations.
The Ministry indicated that it continues its oversight work through an integrated system relying on monitoring, follow-up, verification, inspection tours, and reports received through official channels, ensuring prompt handling of indicators and cases and taking necessary legal action when violations are confirmed.
The Ministry affirmed its continued monitoring of private sector establishments' compliance with labor law provisions and taking legal action against violators, to protect workers' rights and enhance compliance in the labor market.
It called on workers and employers to utilize the official channels and services it provides for reporting violations and inquiring about labor rights and obligations, contributing to the swift verification and processing of cases according to regulations.
