Riyadh, Muharram 29, 1448 AH, corresponding to July 14, 2026, SPA – The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's 2026 Voluntary National Review, presented during the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, highlighted the contributions of the Saudi Electronic University in supporting sustainable development targets and enhancing education quality through its pioneering blended learning model, which provides access to technology-supported education across 17 educational centers in various regions of the Kingdom, in addition to integrating sustainable development goals into 41 academic programs. The report indicated that the university employed learning systems supported by artificial intelligence technologies, used AI tools in course design, digital content development, and innovative educational activities, in addition to utilizing learning analytics platforms to support academic decision-making and enhance the efficiency of educational processes. It noted the university's distinction in the UI GreenMetric ranking for 2024, achieving seventh place locally, reflecting its commitment to adopting sustainable educational and environmental practices. In the field of sustainability and innovation, the review presented the university's efforts in implementing digital practices that contributed to reducing the carbon footprint across its seventeen educational centers through digital monitoring and specialized partnerships in energy efficiency. The report pointed to its contributions to the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem, its participation in the Entrepreneurial Universities Initiative, and the publication of 457 scientific research papers related to sustainability during 2024 and 2025, enhancing its role in supporting the knowledge economy and contributing to the achievement of national development targets. The President of Saudi Electronic University, Dr. Muhammad bin Yahya Mardhi, praised the support, care, and attention received by the education system in the Kingdom, stressing that the national achievements accomplished in the Kingdom's 2026 Voluntary National Review embody the extent of support from the wise leadership - may Allah protect them - for the sector, and enabling educational institutions to effectively contribute to achieving sustainable development targets and the Kingdom's Vision 2030. Dr. Mardhi expressed his gratitude to the Minister of Education, Mr. Yusuf bin Abdullah Al-Bunyan, for the guidance and follow-up that the university education sector receives, which contributed to achieving these qualitative accomplishments and enhancing the competitiveness of Saudi universities locally and internationally.
