Tragedy in East Samtah: Suffocation kills mother and four children in house fire
A mother and her four children died this evening after suffocating from smoke in a fire that broke out in a home in the village of Al-Luqyah, part of the Al-Qafl center east of Samtah Governorate. The father of the family sustained smoke inhalation in a tragic incident that cast a shadow over the residents of the Jazan region. A private source told Al-Watan that civil defense and emergency teams responded to the scene immediately after the report, extinguishing the fire. Authorities began field procedures, dealt with the affected, and completed inspection and investigation. The source said the incident resulted in the deaths of five family members from smoke inhalation: the mother, Wafa' Muhannashi, 43; her daughter Wasan Abdulrahman Muhannashi, 11; Kayan, 10; Saud, 3; and Lana, aged one year—a heartbreaking scene that shook Samtah and neighboring areas. The source indicated that the father of the family, Abdulrahman Hassan Dulayh Muhannashi, 43, suffered smoke inhalation from the fire and was initially taken to Samtah General Hospital for first aid and urgent medical care before being transferred to King Fahd Central Hospital in Jazan to complete treatment.
