The branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in the Makkah region responded to a report from a female citizen, evacuated a site near the central vegetable market in Jeddah from workers engaged in illegal selling, and detained 12 expatriates for the application of regulations.
The branch conducted an urgent field inspection in coordination with relevant government authorities to address the site and monitor violations. During the inspection, the landowner, a private sector company, was summoned to complete legal procedures and clear the location of violators.

The joint inspection campaign resulted in the detention of 12 expatriates of different nationalities involved in illegally selling agricultural products. The detainees were referred to the competent authorities to complete procedures and apply relevant regulations and laws. Engineer Walid Al Daghis, Director General of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture branch in the Makkah region, affirmed the continuation of inspection campaigns on public benefit markets, stating that these tours aim to monitor violations and ensure full compliance with approved regulations.
Application of Penalties
Engineer Al Daghis called on investors and site owners to adhere to instructions and fully cooperate with regulatory authorities to prevent any violations, stressing that field follow-up will continue to apprehend violators and apply deterrent legal penalties against them.
