(CNN)-- The Jordanian Army announced the interception of four missiles that entered the kingdom's airspace early Monday, according to the Jordan News Agency (Petra).
The agency reported Monday morning local time, quoting a responsible military source in the Jordanian Armed Forces as saying that "four missiles entered Jordanian airspace from Iranian territory, and were intercepted and shot down," confirming that they did not result in any casualties or material damage.
The source added that teams from the Royal Engineering Corps handled the shrapnel that fell in several locations, according to approved technical and security procedures, and took necessary measures to secure those sites and ensure the safety of citizens and property.
This comes in conjunction with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard's announcement Monday of launching a new wave of missile and drone attacks on US bases in the region.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) had announced strikes on Iran, saying they aimed to "continue to undermine its ability to attack civilian sailors and commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz."
