Israeli military vehicles advanced into the al-Zeitoun neighborhood south of Gaza City on Wednesday, expanding their areas of control, while a Palestinian died from wounds sustained in a previous Israeli strike.

This comes amid ongoing Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement that has been in effect since October 10, 2025.

Local sources and witnesses told Anadolu correspondent that Israeli military vehicles, including a bulldozer, advanced about 150 meters near al-Dawwar Square, southeast of the al-Zeitoun neighborhood south of Gaza City.

Witnesses added that the incursion coincided with heavy gunfire and artillery shelling, while the vehicles carried out leveling operations in the area.

They reported hearing violent explosions throughout the night due to the ongoing Israeli artillery shelling.

Multiple sources told Anadolu that the Israeli army expanded its areas of control in the region by moving the concrete blocks marking the 'Yellow Line' westward, reaching the vicinity of al-Dawwar Square on Salah al-Din Street.

This area has witnessed repeated Israeli incursions, artillery shelling, and gunfire for days, resulting in casualties among Palestinians.

The 'Yellow Line' is a hypothetical boundary line defined by the ceasefire understandings reached in October 2025, marked by yellow concrete blocks, separating areas from which the Israeli army has withdrawn from those it still occupies in the strip.

Since the signing of the agreement, the Israeli army has expanded its control in Gaza, with the percentage of land under its control rising from 53% to 70%, according to Israeli officials' statements.

In a related context, a medical source at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City reported the death of young man Abdullah Hassan from serious wounds sustained in a previous Israeli strike.

The source told Anadolu that the strike targeted a civilian vehicle near the Al-Ghafri intersection on Al-Jalaa Street in central Gaza City.

In Khan Younis, south of the strip, eyewitnesses said that the Israeli army carried out demolition operations of Palestinian buildings and facilities within its areas of control east of the city.

Witnesses added that Israeli military vehicles fired heavily towards areas south of Khan Younis.

The Israeli violations have resulted in the deaths of 1,168 Palestinians and injuries to 798 others as of Tuesday, according to data from the Health Ministry in the strip.

The agreement was reached to halt the genocide committed by Israel since October 8, 2023, which has left more than 73,000 dead and over 173,000 injured, along with massive destruction affecting 90 percent of civilian infrastructure.
