The Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense announced that the Iranian attacks, which have been ongoing since dawn Sunday with missiles and drones, have caused 'severe damage' to civilian and vital facilities in the country.

Ministry of Defense spokesperson Saud Al-Otaiban said in a statement that 'the armed forces have detected, since dawn today, hostile ballistic missiles and drones within Kuwaiti airspace, and they were intercepted and dealt with.'

Al-Otaiban added that 'the sinful Iranian aggression continues to target civilian and vital facilities in the country.'

He continued: 'The attacks have extended to facilities belonging to the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, causing fires and severe damage to a number of its vital facilities and installations.'

Earlier on Sunday, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy announced a fire at one of its power and water desalination plants following an Iranian attack, the second such incident in two days.

It added that the fire affected a large number of power generation units, prompting the activation of emergency plans and immediate response to the incident to mitigate its effects and maintain the stability of the electrical grid.

On Friday, the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy announced that one of its power and water desalination plants was attacked, resulting in damage to its facilities, a fire, and damage to a large number of power generation units.

Kuwait, along with other Arab countries, has been subjected to Iranian attacks in recent days, while Tehran said it targeted US military bases and sites in Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman in response to US strikes against it.

This comes after the collapse of the interim memorandum of understanding signed by the United States and Iran on June 18, before US President Donald Trump announced on July 8 the end of the agreement, accusing Tehran of non-compliance, while Iran blamed Washington for its failure.
