(CNN)-- The Kuwaiti government announced on Tuesday that Iran targeted water desalination and power generation plants last night, marking the fourth consecutive day of attacks on the country's critical infrastructure.

Kuwait's Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy said in a statement: "Last evening, several electric power and water distillation plants were subjected to attacks for the fourth consecutive day, resulting in fires breaking out in a number of their facilities."

The statement added, "The fires were brought under control and extinguished, and a number of generation units went out of service."

Kuwait has accused Iran of targeting its power generation and water desalination plants several times over the past week. Desalination accounts for about 90% of Kuwait's fresh water needs.

In Bahrain, sirens sounded to warn residents of an Iranian attack, and authorities called on residents and citizens to head to the nearest safe place. The extent of damage to facilities from the attack remains unclear.

The Jordanian Armed Forces announced that air defense systems intercepted and shot down 3 Iranian missiles that were targeting the kingdom on Tuesday.

These three countries are among the most targeted by Iran since hostilities resumed between Tehran and Washington this month.
