Bahrain announced on Tuesday that sirens were sounding for the second time since dawn, while Kuwait said its air defenses were confronting a new wave of Iranian missile and drone attacks.

The Bahraini Interior Ministry said in a statement on the American platform "X": "The siren has been sounded. We ask citizens and residents to remain calm and head to the nearest safe place and follow news through official channels."

The ministry did not provide details about the nature of the threat or the targeted sites, while earlier Tuesday it issued a similar alert, announced the sounding of sirens, and called on residents to take shelter.

In Kuwait, the General Staff of the Army said in a statement that "air defenses are currently confronting hostile missile and drone attacks, following the sinful Iranian aggression."

It added that any sounds of explosions heard are caused by interception operations carried out by air defense systems against the attacks, calling on residents to adhere to the safety and security instructions issued by the competent authorities.

The Kuwaiti army had earlier Tuesday announced that its air defenses were confronting missile and drone attacks, making the current wave the second to be dealt with during the same day.

For days, the United States has been launching successive waves of strikes on sites inside Iran, while Tehran responds with attacks on "American military bases and facilities and sites linked to Washington" in countries in the region, including Bahrain and Kuwait.

The escalation comes despite Washington and Tehran signing a memorandum of understanding on June 18 that included a cessation of fighting and the start of negotiations to reach a broader agreement.

But US President Donald Trump announced on July 8 that the ceasefire was over, following attacks on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz that Washington accused Tehran of being behind, and the United States resumed its strikes inside Iran, amid escalating Iranian responses in the region.

Washington demands that Tehran stop attacking ships and open all routes in the Strait of Hormuz without restrictions or fees, while Iran insists on subjecting navigation to a mechanism it regulates through the strategic corridor, exacerbating fears of disruption to oil and gas exports from the region.
