Sudanese authorities announced on Wednesday that the Rapid Support Forces targeted the power station of Al-Dabbah in the Northern State.

The Security Committee of Al-Dabbah city stated in a statement: "The Al-Dabbah transformer station was targeted by the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia, leading to a fire at the station and minor injuries to a guard, who was transferred to hospital for treatment."

The statement added: "We clarify to citizens and the world that this targeting is systematic and targets civilian facilities and the services of unarmed citizens in their daily lives."

It affirmed that such "criminal acts by the rebel militia will not deter us from playing our role in defending this land and honor, but rather increase our strength and steadfastness until these militias are uprooted from their roots, so that Sudan may enjoy security and safety."

Activists circulated videos on social media showing a fire breaking out at the Al-Dabbah power station following a drone attack.

Local media, including the site 'Sudan Tribune,' reported that Al-Dabbah was subjected to a drone attack targeting the transformer station and a number of military sites, leading to a power outage in the city.

Sudanese authorities, organizations and human rights bodies accuse the Rapid Support Forces of targeting civilian facilities, but the latter does not comment on these accusations, saying it works "to protect civilians."

The humanitarian suffering in Sudan is worsening due to the war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, ongoing since April 2023 over a dispute about unifying the military institution, which has resulted in tens of thousands dead and about 13 million people displaced.
