Forces of 'Dara'a al-Watan' affiliated with the Yemeni government announced on Saturday the killing of 5 of its members and the wounding of 3 others in an attack in Hadramawt province, eastern Yemen.
The forces said in a statement that 5 members of the Fourth Brigade of the Second Division were killed, including the son of the brigade's chief of staff (unnamed).
Meanwhile, 3 others were injured 'following a treacherous criminal attack carried out by elements outside the system and the law while they were in a restaurant in Ramah district, Hadramawt province,' according to the statement.
'Dara'a al-Watan' forces affirmed that they will continue, in coordination with the competent authorities, to pursue the perpetrators of the attack and bring them to justice.
It added that this attack 'will not deter Dara'a al-Watan forces from performing their duty to protect the homeland and maintain its security and stability.'
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
The incident comes in Hadramawt province, which government forces regained control of early this year, after clashes in which government forces, including 'Dara'a al-Watan,' with major support from the Saudi-led coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen, fought against the dissolved Southern Transitional Council forces, as part of efforts to enhance security and stability in the province.
On January 9, 2026, the Transitional Council announced the dissolution of itself and all its main and subsidiary bodies and institutions, and the cancellation of its offices inside and outside the country, after its failure to forcibly control the southern Yemeni provinces to separate them from the rest of Yemen.
'Dara'a al-Watan' was formed in 2023 by a decision of the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council in Yemen, Rashad al-Alimi, and is under his command as the Supreme Commander of the Yemeni Armed Forces, the highest military official in the country.
