Iranian media reported on Tuesday explosions in several areas in the south of the country, following the US Army's announcement of a new wave of attacks on Iran.
The official IRNA news agency reported that the United States launched attacks on Khuzestan and Hormozgan provinces, which overlook the Persian Gulf in the south of the country.
It indicated that explosions were heard in the cities of Sirik and Behbahan in Hormozgan province, while attacks continued on Bandar Abbas city.
The US Army had announced additional airstrikes against Iran, confirming that the naval blockade imposed on it would go into effect at 23:00 Turkey time (16:00 US Eastern Time).
In June 2026, the United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding that included a ceasefire, following Qatari and Pakistani mediation, in preparation for reaching a final agreement to end the war, before US President Donald Trump announced on July 8 the end of the ceasefire due to renewed escalation.
