US Army announces start of new wave of strikes on Iran

The US Army announced that it has begun a new wave of airstrikes on Iran.

The US Central Command said in a statement on X: "The strikes aim to continue weakening the military capabilities used by Iranian forces to attack commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz."
Earlier, the Iranian army announced that 7 of its members were killed in US strikes on southeastern Iran in recent hours, as part of an escalation that could topple the memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran.
The coastal city of Bushehr, located in southwestern Iran and housing Iran's only nuclear plant, was subjected to new US strikes on Wednesday.
Bushehr Governor Mohammad Mozafari said: "The American enemy yesterday attacked three sites in Bushehr," the day after another attack that is part of an escalation in confrontations between Tehran and Washington.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Wednesday the conclusion of the latest round of strikes targeting Iran.
CENTCOM said in a statement on X: "An additional round of strikes against Iran was carried out on July 14."
The statement added: "We struck dozens of military targets near the Strait of Hormuz and Iranian coastal areas."
US President Donald Trump had said to Fox News on Tuesday that he would expand the scope of US strikes on Iran next week to include power plants and bridges if Tehran does not reach an agreement.
Trump stated in an interview with Fox News: "Next week will be very bad for them because next week power plants will be targeted. Next week bridges will be targeted."
Meanwhile, Iran waved the threat of energy corridors in the region by using the Houthi card to work on closing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
Iran's official news agency IRNA quoted the Revolutionary Guards as saying that energy exports in the region are "either for everyone or everyone is deprived of them."
The Iranian Revolutionary Guards on Wednesday waved the closure of "all other export corridors that the United States and its allies benefit from."
