The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced on Monday that ongoing investigations with members of the terrorist cell recently arrested, supported by analysis of surveillance camera recordings and confessions of the detainees, have proven their responsibility for the terrorist bombing that occurred in Damascus on July 7, following the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron.

The ministry added that the investigations showed that the detainees Diaa Shaker al-Qasim, Abdullah Younis al-Jubouri, and Muhammad Asaad Muhammad belong to the ISIS organization and were involved in planning terrorist acts aimed at destabilizing security and stability and spreading chaos among citizens.

It also confirmed that investigations are ongoing to uncover all those involved and cooperating with the cell, in preparation for referring them to the competent judiciary and taking the necessary legal measures against them.

Two simultaneous bombings with two explosive devices, one inside a trash container and the second inside a car parked on the roadside, targeted the vicinity of an upscale hotel where Macron spent the night during his unprecedented visit to Damascus.

The two bombings resulted in the death of one person and the injury of 36 others, according to the Ministry of Health.

The bombings occurred after the French president's motorcade had left the hotel on its way to the presidential palace to hold extensive talks with his Syrian counterpart, Ahmad al-Sharaa.

Al-Sharaa praised Macron's "courage" in continuing his visit. Meanwhile, Macron during the visit reiterated his support for the Syrian authorities, considering that these attacks should not "destabilize" Syria's stability.
