The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) at the New Arar crossing foiled an attempt to smuggle more than 42 kilograms of the narcotic methamphetamine (shabu), which was found hidden in a vehicle entering the Kingdom through the crossing.

ZATCA official spokesman Hamoud Al-Harbi explained that during the inspection and examination of an incoming vehicle, methamphetamine was found hidden in the vehicle's fuel tank.

He added that after the seizure, coordination was made with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to arrest the recipient of the seized items, and the recipient was apprehended inside the Kingdom.

The official spokesman affirmed that the authority, through all its customs ports, is tightening customs control over the Kingdom's imports and exports, and is on the lookout for smuggling attempts, in line with a key pillar of its strategy to enhance community security and protection by curbing attempts to smuggle such harmful substances and other contraband, in coordination and cooperation with its partners, the Ministry of Interior and the General Directorate of Narcotics Control.

Al-Harbi called on everyone to contribute to combating smuggling to protect society and the national economy by contacting the authority on the security report hotline (1910) or via email ([email protected]) or the international number (009661910). Through these channels, the authority receives reports related to smuggling crimes and violations of the Unified Customs Law with complete confidentiality, and a financial reward is given to the informant if the information is valid.
