The US Embassy in Bahrain issued a security warning to its citizens, stating that it had received information indicating that Iran may seek to target unspecified locations in downtown Manama, the Bahraini capital.

In a statement, the embassy called on all US citizens to exercise extreme caution and vigilance, comply with instructions from Bahraini authorities, and follow the latest guidance issued by the embassy.

The embassy urged US citizens to take shelter immediately upon hearing an explosion or sirens, stating that if indoors, they should go to the basement or the safest area away from windows and external openings, while those outdoors should seek a fortified building, or if not possible, lie face down on the ground and cover their heads.

It stressed that the risk of falling debris remains even if missiles or drones are intercepted, urging people to stay away from any debris after an attack and to follow official media for guidance.

The embassy also recommended its citizens avoid demonstrations, large gatherings, and areas with heavy security presence, while following official sources and complying with local authorities' instructions, in addition to enrolling in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) of the US Department of State to receive security updates and facilitate communication in emergencies.
