Public Security: Penalty for Expat's Delay in Departure After Entry Visa Expiry Reaches Imprisonment
The Ministry of Interior renewed its warning to expatriates against the danger of delaying departure from the Kingdom after the expiration of entry visas, stressing that violating regulations exposes the perpetrator to severe legal penalties.
The Ministry explained that an expatriate who remains inside the Kingdom after the expiry of the granted visa period is punishable by a fine of up to 50,000 riyals, along with imprisonment for up to 6 months, followed by deportation according to legal procedures.
It affirmed that these penalties apply to all holders of entry visas who exceed the permitted legal period, calling on visitors to monitor their visa expiry dates and ensure they leave the Kingdom before expiration to avoid legal accountability and prescribed penalties.
In the same context, the Ministry of Interior urged everyone to report violators of residency, labor, and border security regulations by calling (911) in the regions of Mecca, Medina, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, and (999) in the rest of the Kingdom's regions.
The Ministry indicated that these measures are part of an ongoing campaign to enhance compliance with residency, labor, and visit regulations, and to reduce misuse of visas or irregular stay in the Kingdom, thereby contributing to raising security and organization levels, controlling violations, and applying regulations against all violators.
