Iran's official news agency IRNA announced Friday evening that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will visit Oman on Saturday to discuss the Strait of Hormuz issue and bilateral relations.

The official agency reported that Araghchi will travel to Muscat on Saturday accompanied by a diplomatic delegation.

It added that during the visit, Araghchi is scheduled to discuss regional developments, especially the Strait of Hormuz and relations between Iran and Oman, with Omani officials.

The Strait of Hormuz region periodically experiences security tensions against the backdrop of the war launched by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28.

On June 18, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding and are continuing difficult negotiations to reach a final agreement, mediated by Pakistan and Qatar.
