Chief engineer of the nuclear power plant Alexander Yakovlev was killed in Ukrainian shelling.

The Director General of the Russian state atomic energy corporation Rosatom, Alexei Likhachev, said that Yakovlev was killed in a Ukrainian kamikaze drone attack, according to Russia Today.

Ukrainian strikes target the residential city of Enerhodar adjacent to the plant, as well as the workshops and technical buildings attached to it, which house the engineering staff responsible for maintenance and repair operations.

According to a report by Russia Today, the recent attacks rely on monitoring the movements of senior officials and key personnel inside and outside the facility's premises to precisely target them while performing their duties or commuting.
