The Israeli army on Thursday killed five Palestinians in aerial and artillery bombardment and expanded its control in the eastern areas of Gaza City.
This comes as Israel continues its violations of the ceasefire agreement in place in Gaza since October 10, 2025.
In the latest attacks, a medical source told Anadolu that a Palestinian named Anas Hamdan (34) was killed and four others were injured in a strike targeting a vehicle in the Mawasi area of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.
Earlier, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said in a statement that 'the young man Nihad Riyad Arouq (33) was killed in a strike carried out by an Israeli drone on the port area west of Gaza City.'
A medical source at Al-Shifa Hospital confirmed to Anadolu that Arouq was killed in an Israeli raid targeting a tent for displaced persons in the port area, adding that others were injured, including children, but did not specify the number.
Earlier Thursday, a medical source told Anadolu that Palestinian Ibrahim Khattab (37) was killed and his wife and children were injured in intense artillery shelling and gunfire from Israeli vehicles that advanced near the Dawla junction southeast of the al-Zaytoun neighborhood in Gaza City.
A source at Al-Shifa Hospital also told Anadolu that 'the bodies of the martyrs Muhammad al-Rifi and Suhail Ahadibi, along with other injured, whose number was not specified, arrived due to a strike carried out by an Israeli drone on a civilian gathering near the Sanafur junction in the al-Tuffah neighborhood northeast of Gaza City.'
Meanwhile, local sources and eyewitnesses told Anadolu that Israeli vehicles advanced at night near the Dawla junction southeast of the al-Zaytoun neighborhood in Gaza City, under heavy cover of artillery shelling and gunfire.
The witnesses added that the Israeli vehicles advanced tens of meters towards Salah al-Din Street and moved the concrete blocks symbolizing the so-called 'Yellow Line' westward, in a new expansion of the army's control areas, narrowing the space available for Palestinians in the Strip.
They pointed out that the area witnessed the displacement of dozens of families who hurried to leave their homes amid a state of panic under Israeli gunfire and shelling.
Activists documented a fire breaking out in a commercial shop near the mentioned area due to Israeli shelling and gunfire.
The 'Yellow Line' is a security strip imposed by Israel inside the Gaza Strip, preventing Palestinians from accessing areas near it, while it controls more than 70 percent of the Strip's area.
Since the signing of the ceasefire agreement in October 2025, the Israeli army has expanded its control in areas that were outside its control under the agreement, as the percentage of land it controls rose from 53 percent to 70 percent, according to Israeli officials' statements.
The Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement have resulted, as of Wednesday, in the killing of 1,123 Palestinians and the injury of 3,616 others, according to data from the Ministry of Health in the Strip.
