Amman, Jordan (CNN) -- Jordanian government spokesman, Mohammad al-Momani, said Sunday that Jordanian authorities have not issued any decisions to evacuate King Hussein International Airport in Aqaba or the port in the same city, noting that both facilities are operating normally.

Al-Momani said that Jordanian authorities have not recorded any potential threats in the past hours, and that any potential risks are warned about by the relevant Jordanian authorities.

Al-Momani's remarks, reported by the official Jordanian news agency (Petra), came in response to a 'warning' statement issued by the US Embassy in Amman, which stated that Jordanian authorities had evacuated Aqaba International Airport and the seaport due to a 'specific and credible threat.'

The embassy added in its statement: 'We strongly recommend that all Americans refrain from going to the airport or the seaport.'

The city of Aqaba, located on the Red Sea, usually sees very active movement during the summer months; it houses the only seaport in Jordan.
