Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Egypt, Lebanon, and Jordan on Sunday condemned the recent Iranian attacks on several Arab countries, calling them a 'blatant violation of international law.'
Five Gulf countries and Jordan witnessed attacks on Sunday, the broadest targeting of Arab countries since the de-escalation between Washington and Tehran last April, while some of those countries said Iran launched the attacks.
Those countries, according to Anadolu's monitoring of official positions, included Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, and Jordan.
* Saudi Arabia
The Saudi Foreign Ministry expressed in a statement its 'strongest' condemnation and denunciation of Iran's continuation of what it described as 'behavior that undermines the security and stability of the region.'
The Saudi Foreign Ministry considered that the repeated attacks on commercial vessels threaten the security and freedom of navigation.
It denounced 'the continued Iranian attacks on Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, Oman, and Jordan.'
* Oman
In Oman, a security source reported that sites in Musandam Governorate were targeted by drones.
The Sultanate affirmed its condemnation and denunciation of this targeting, noting that it is taking all necessary measures to deal with developments, to preserve the safety of the country and its residents, according to the Oman News Agency, which did not specify the party that launched the drones.
* Kuwait
For its part, the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry expressed in a statement its 'strong condemnation and denunciation of the Iranian attacks' that targeted those countries.
The ministry considered that these attacks represent 'a repeated, blatant escalation and a violation' of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of those countries.
* Egypt
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry also condemned 'in the strongest terms' the Iranian attacks, describing them as a 'flagrant violation' of the sovereignty of those countries and a 'dangerous escalation' threatening the security and stability of the Gulf region.
It stressed, in a statement, its complete rejection of any attacks targeting the security and sovereignty of Arab countries.
It called for 'an immediate halt to all escalatory actions and adherence to the rules of international law, in order to preserve the security of the region and spare its peoples further tension and instability.'
* Lebanon
In Lebanon, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam condemned 'the Iranian attacks on Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, the UAE, Oman, and Jordan,' considering them a 'violation of the sovereignty of those countries and a threat to their security and the stability of the region.'
Salam affirmed in a statement his country's full solidarity with those countries.
* Jordan
Jordan condemned 'the brutal Iranian attacks' on the UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, and Kuwait, considering them 'a blatant violation of their sovereignty, a threat to their security, stability, and territorial integrity, a dangerous escalation, and a flagrant breach of international law and the United Nations Charter.'
The Kingdom affirmed in a statement by the Foreign Ministry its 'absolute support for the sisterly countries and its standing with them in all steps they take to protect their sovereignty, security, and the safety of their citizens and residents.'
Saturday night/Sunday saw mutual strikes between Washington and Tehran, while the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to maritime navigation until further notice.
The Revolutionary Guard also announced on Sunday in a statement that it had targeted two ships in the Strait of Hormuz, saying they 'violated the transit rules' imposed by Iran.
For its part, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Sunday via the American company X's platform the launch of a new wave of attacks on Iran, in response to the latter's targeting of commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
It indicated that its attacks last night hit about 140 military targets, including missile and drone sites, naval military capabilities, ammunition depots, communication networks, and coastal surveillance facilities.
In response to these attacks, Iran announced that it had targeted US military sites in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and Jordan with missiles.
Washington and Tehran had signed on June 18 last year a memorandum of understanding after negotiations mediated by Qatar and Pakistan, paving the way for a final agreement, before Trump announced that the memorandum with Iran had 'ended' against the backdrop of the recent escalation.
