CENTCOM denies reports of 3 US soldiers killed in Iranian strikes in Kuwait
(CNN)-- The US Central Command (CENTCOM) denied on Sunday circulating reports of US soldiers killed in Iranian strikes on Kuwait earlier today.
CENTCOM said in a statement that "Iranian propaganda today spoke of the killing of 3 US soldiers in Kuwait as a result of Iranian strikes. This is not true."
The statement added that "no reports of deaths or injuries among US forces personnel in the region have been received. They are all fine."
Earlier on Sunday, the Kuwaiti army announced that three land border posts in the north of the country were subjected to an "aggressive attack," resulting in "material damage."
A statement by the official spokesman of the Ministry of Defense, Colonel Staff Saudi Abdulaziz Al-Atwan, said: "Three land border posts in the north of the country were subjected to an unjust aggressive attack, resulting in material damage."
The statement added: "One of the offshore drilling platforms belonging to the Kuwait Oil Company in Kuwaiti territorial waters was also targeted by a hostile drone, resulting in material damage and injury to one worker, who is receiving necessary medical care."
Prior to that, the Kuwaiti armed forces had announced that they had confronted "hostile aerial targets" within the country's airspace.
The UAE Ministry of Defense also said on Sunday that air defenses were dealing with "missile attacks," while sirens sounded in Bahrain.
This comes amid continued escalation between the United States and Iran, with the US Central Command announcing the execution of a third round of strikes targeting Iranian military sites on Sunday.
