US Central Command forces launched additional strikes on multiple sites in Iran on June 27, targeting military surveillance infrastructure, communication systems, air defense, drone facilities, and naval mine-laying capabilities, in response to successive Iranian attacks targeting oil tankers near the Strait of Hormuz.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) forces carried out additional military strikes targeting multiple sites in Iran on June 27, 2025, under direct orders from the commander-in-chief.
These strikes came following a previous US military operation carried out in response to the Iranian attack on the commercial vessel M/V Ever Lovely. Iran was given an opportunity to commit to a ceasefire agreement, but Tehran chose to ignore it and launched a one-way attack drone that struck the oil tanker M/T Kiku at 4:30 a.m. Eastern Time.
The tanker, flying a Panamanian flag, was sailing near the Strait of Hormuz carrying more than 2 million barrels of crude oil when it was hit.
In their new strikes, US military aircraft targeted a comprehensive set of sensitive Iranian sites, including: military surveillance infrastructure, communication systems, air defense sites, drone storage facilities, as well as naval mine-laying capabilities.
CENTCOM confirmed that commercial vessel transit through the Strait of Hormuz continues, noting that its forces are operating with high vigilance and combat readiness.
