Coordinated attacks in several regions of Mali and on a prison
Jihadists and armed Tuareg separatists allied with them are launching attacks in several regions of Mali, including one on the Kanioura prison located 70 kilometers from the capital, according to the army, security sources, and residents contacted by AFP.
The battles began at 4 a.m. (local and GMT), according to sources who confirmed they are ongoing. The battles come more than two months after large-scale attacks carried out by the "Group for Support of Islam and Muslims" (JNIM), loyal to al-Qaeda, and the separatists in the "Azawad Liberation Front" in late April.
