During the NATO summit in the Turkish capital Ankara, amidst an atmosphere dominated by escalation between the United States and Iran, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan presented his country's vision for the alliance's role in addressing current security challenges, stressing that Turkey will continue to contribute to protecting collective security and enhancing regional stability, adding that his country will contribute to confronting maritime and land threats targeting alliance members, announcing Ankara's support for initiatives aimed at meeting Ukraine's military needs amid the ongoing war with Russia. As for the situation in Iran, Erdogan indicated that his country is ready to participate in a "potential mine clearance operation in the Strait of Hormuz," while praising what he described as the "firm stance" of US President Donald Trump in efforts to reach an agreement with Iran, stressing the importance of maintaining unity among allies in the face of security threats.
