Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi discussed the latest developments in the region and the ceasefire.
Sources in the Turkish Foreign Ministry told Anadolu that Fidan and Araghchi held a phone call on Thursday.
The sources added that the two sides discussed the latest developments in the region and the status of the ceasefire.
On Wednesday evening, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced a series of attacks on Iran, a day after launching similar attacks in response to attacks targeting three commercial ships crossing the Strait of Hormuz.
The British Maritime Trade Operations reported that three oil tankers were attacked while crossing the strait, causing minor damage, without disclosing their nationalities.
The Strait of Hormuz region periodically experiences security tensions against the backdrop of the war that the United States and Israel launched against Iran on February 28 of last year.
On June 18 of last year, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding and continue difficult negotiations to reach a final agreement, mediated by Pakistan and Qatar.
