Execution of a citizen who killed another with gunfire in Tabuk
The Ministry of Interior issued a statement today regarding the implementation of the death penalty by retribution (Qisas) against a perpetrator in the Tabuk region. The following is its text: God Almighty said: (O you who have believed, prescribed for you is legal retribution for those murdered) and said: (And there is, for you, in legal retribution, life, O people of understanding, that you may become righteous). Obaid bin Ahmed bin Falih Al-Balawi – Saudi national – committed the murder of Eid bin Asi bin Suwailim Al-Wabsi – Saudi national – by shooting him, leading to his death due to a dispute between them. By the grace of God, the security authorities were able to arrest the aforementioned perpetrator, and the investigation with him resulted in the accusation against him of committing the crime. Upon referral to the competent court, a verdict was issued confirming the charges and sentencing him to death by retribution (Qisas). The verdict became final after appeal and then upheld by the Supreme Court, and a royal order was issued to carry out what was legally determined. The death sentence by retribution was executed on the perpetrator, Obaid bin Ahmed bin Falih Al-Balawi – Saudi national – on Monday, 28 Muharram 1448 AH, corresponding to July 13, 2026, in the Tabuk region. The Ministry of Interior, in announcing this, affirms to all the Saudi government's commitment to maintaining security, achieving justice, and implementing Islamic Sharia rulings against anyone who assaults the safe, sheds their blood, and violates their right to life, and at the same time warns anyone who contemplates such actions that the legal punishment will be their fate.
