The Israeli Broadcasting Authority claimed on Sunday that the United States informed Israel of its intention to escalate attacks against Iran in the coming days, amid tensions in the region.

The authority cited two unnamed security sources, one Israeli and one American, as saying that Washington informed Tel Aviv of its intention to escalate military attacks against Iran in the coming days.

The two sources added that 'Washington at this stage prefers to keep Israel out of the current escalation circle, despite discussing scenarios that may include an Iranian response targeting Israel.'

The Broadcasting Authority reported that assessments circulated during strategic consultations between the two sides (American and Israeli) indicate that the possibility of Iran launching attacks toward Israel exists, which could push Tel Aviv to respond inside Iranian territory, something the United States does not currently want.

In the context of preparations, the Broadcasting Authority reported that the United States has strengthened its military presence in the region, transferring additional equipment and ammunition to Israel over the past 24 hours to support American warplanes.

It clarified that more than 10 refueling aircraft arrived in Israel from Europe and from the Al Udeid base in Qatar, as part of preparations for the possibility of American interests in the region being targeted by Iranian attacks.

The Hebrew website Walla had quoted an unnamed source in the Israeli Air Force as saying that the US military intends to deploy 100 refueling aircraft at Israeli military bases and Ramon Airport (south).

It added: 'If the Americans intensify their attacks against Iran, this will require deploying more American refueling aircraft in Israel.'

The Israeli website continued: 'In this case, these aircraft may land at Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv.'

It added that 14 additional US refueling aircraft have already arrived in Israel over the weekend.

On February 28 last, the United States and Israel began an aggression against Iran, resulting in more than 3,000 dead, according to Tehran, which responded with attacks that killed Americans and Israelis, followed by a period of calm.

As of Sunday evening, Israel has not publicly participated in the ongoing confrontation between Washington and Tehran, now in its second week, as Trump announced on July 8 the end of the ceasefire stipulated in the memorandum of understanding signed on June 18.

Trump's announcement came after Iran targeted three commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz, as Tehran insists on imposing a mechanism to regulate ship passage through the strategic corridor, while Washington demands guaranteeing freedom of navigation and its security in the strait.

The escalation has disrupted navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and threatened air traffic and energy supplies, amid intermittent closures of airspace and warnings of targeting American facilities and interests outside the Middle East.
