Iranian authorities announced the killing of two people and wounding of 11 others, according to an initial tally, in attacks launched by the United States early Monday on the cities of Mahshahr and Nain.
Semi-official Tasnim agency quoted Khuzestan (southwest) Deputy Governor Valiollah Hayati as saying that one of the munitions used in the US attacks hit an irrigation water pumping station in Mahshahr.
Hayati added that the attack resulted in the death of a security personnel and wounding of four people.
He noted that the attacks began during the night, and that specialized teams continue to examine their effects in various areas of Mahshahr.
In the same context, the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) quoted Isfahan (central) Deputy Governor Akbar Salehi as saying that one person was killed and seven others wounded in a US attack targeting Nain County before dawn.
On Sunday, the United States announced launching a new wave of attacks on Iran, in response to the latter's targeting of commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
In response to these attacks, Iran announced targeting sites of US forces in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and Jordan with missiles.
The Strait of Hormuz region is witnessing security tensions against the backdrop of the war launched by the United States and Israel on Iran on February 28, 2026.
Washington and Tehran had signed, last June, a memorandum of understanding that included a ceasefire, following Qatari and Pakistani mediation, ahead of reaching a final agreement to end the war, before US President Donald Trump announced on July 8 of this month the end of the ceasefire against the backdrop of renewed escalation.
