Iranian Army Spokesman Mohammad Akraminia said that the Strait of Hormuz 'will never be opened through American attacks, but through respect for the rights of the Iranian people.'

This came in press statements by the spokesman reported by Iranian television on Tuesday.

Akraminia said: 'The Strait of Hormuz will never be opened through American attacks, war, or evil. The only way to open it is to respect the rights of the Iranian people.'

He stressed that Iran is obliged to avenge the killing of former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and all those who lost their lives in the war.

The Strait of Hormuz region is witnessing security tensions against the backdrop of the war launched by the United States and Israel on Iran on February 28, 2026.

For days, the United States has been launching attacks on Iran under the pretext of responding to Tehran's targeting of commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

In June 2026, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding that included a ceasefire, following Qatari and Pakistani mediation, paving the way for a final agreement to end the war, before Trump announced on July 8 that the ceasefire had ended amid renewed escalation.
