Jordan on Sunday denied issuing any decisions to evacuate Aqaba International Airport or Aqaba Port, a stance contradicting what the US Embassy in Amman announced earlier the same day.

The Jordan News Agency (Petra) quoted Minister of Government Communication and Official Spokesperson for the Jordanian Government, Mohammad Al-Momani, as saying: 'The relevant authorities have not issued any evacuation decisions at Aqaba Airport or the port.'

Al-Momani added that 'Aqaba Airport and the port are operating normally, and any potential risks are being warned about by the competent Jordanian authorities,' noting that 'the competent authorities have not recorded any potential threats in the past hours.'

This denial came after the US Embassy in Jordan announced on Sunday the evacuation of Aqaba International Airport and Aqaba Port in the south of the kingdom, citing a 'specific and credible threat.'

The embassy wrote on its account on the 'X' platform: 'We strongly advise all Americans to avoid travel to the airport or port, and urge them to continue following all security instructions issued by Jordanian authorities,' without providing further details on the nature of the threat.
