(CNN)-- The Jordanian army announced Monday the interception and downing of 3 missiles launched from Iran that targeted the kingdom's territory, without any material or human damage.

The Jordanian Armed Forces issued a statement saying that "air defense systems intercepted and downed, tonight, 3 missiles coming from Iranian territory, entered Jordanian airspace and targeted the kingdom's territory."

The statement continued: "The interception and downing operation did not result in any human injuries or material damage, while Royal Engineering Corps teams began their tasks at the sites of shrapnel falls, handled them and secured the sites according to the technical and security procedures in place."

A CNN correspondent heard the sound of sirens in the capital Amman. This was the second such warning in two days.

Two American soldiers were killed in Jordan as a result of Iranian attacks targeting the country.

CNN contacted the US Central Command to inquire whether any of the US bases in Jordan had been targeted.
